Tuesday Tales – Catch – Shadow Play

Another great week for Tuesday Tales. This week we’re heading back to see where we left Micha and Riella is up to in Shadow Play. The prompt this week is Catch.

~*~*~

This had to be the worst idea she ever had. In theory flirting with Micha made sense. Use every weapon at her disposal even if that weapon had been her breasts. In the moment though that theory fell flat. Yes she had Micha’s attention. Yes she had learned a few things. Yes he now had her pressed into the wall with her arms pinned above her head and a sizable erection pressed in between her legs. It would either work out beautifully or end in disaster. Both options had possibilities.

“While you are weighing the pros and cons of that answer could you put me the hell down already?” Riella struggled against his grip. She forced a growl to cover up the groan that rose in her throat as their bodies rubbed together.

“Riella please.”

“That’s the second time you’ve said that. What exactly are you asking for Micha?” She leaned in so close their breath mingled as her eyes met his.

“I do not wish to harm you.” His voice carried a deep timber that vibrated against her chest.

“If this is the way you interrogate someone we could do a lot of damage to each other but something tells me we both might enjoy it.” It took considerable effort but she stilled her body in order to keep her evening from ending with something battery powered.

Micha’s eyebrow rose the slightest bit but he showed no other reaction. “You were a formidable opponent for the Obariyan demon but you could have been more gravely injured.”

“I believe I am the one that is the new owner of a miniature jade dragon.” Riella untangled her legs from around his waist and put her feet back under her. A little bit of distance between their bodies would help quell the urge to see how much it would take to push him until he took her against the wall. God she hated the dry spell she was currently in.

The hold on her wrists loosened just before his hands skimmed down along her arms. One large hand encompassed the side of her face as his thumb brushed along the corner of her mouth. “You were still injured.”

“And why is it that you are so concerned that a demon split my lip? I don’t remember Penumbra demons having a thing about blood. ” She brought her newly freed hands down. The feel of his chest muscles rippling under her fingertips sent a shiver through her body.

“You appear to have vast knowledge in regards to demons.” His hands encircled her tiny waist.

“And you appear to have issues with answering any of my questions. How about try and easy one then? Why are you so interested in me?” She looked up at him from under her lashes.

“Merely for your safety. Those that employ the company of a Genesis demon rarely come out unscathed.”

“So my choice in best friend in roommate is the only reason you haven’t stopped touching me since we came into this room?” She relished in the fact that a tremor ran through him when she flexed her fingers on his chest.

Micha stared down at her not a syllable passed his lips. His eyes, so much like hers, flashed brighter.

“Is it that you’d prefer other activities to conversation right now? A Vruk or Minaar perhaps that would be upset that were just intimately entangled with a lowly human.” Riella scratched her nails lightly along his chest stopping at his stomach. Another tremor vibrated under her fingertips causing a smile to tug at the corners of her lips.

“You intrigue me Riella. Highly skilled in fighting, adept with magic and well versed in several kinds of demons.” The usual stoic expression of a Penumbra remained on his face.

“You forgot that I make a kick ass apple cobbler, I’m incredibly good at my job and I’m amazing in bed.” Her fingers remained just above the waistband of his jeans but she resisted the urge to tug on the button.

“And what exactly is it that you do for a living?” Micha’s hands tightened around her waist but not enough to hurt her.

“Not so fast.” Riella chided with a wry smile. “You know much more about me than I do about you. This is beginning to sound more like an interview than simple concern for my well-being.”

“That is not my intention Riella.” Micha shook his head.

“Isn’t it? You are intrigued by me because I’ve shocked you. Very few have ever been able to lock you out of their mind. I killed a demon in plain sight of all the customers here with no repercussions from the owner.” Her hands slipped up to rest over his heart. “And watching me tonight made you so hard you don’t know what to do with yourself right now.”

“You are right very few have ever been able to lock me out of their mind. You have more knowledge than most regarding my kind. How is it that you acquired this knowledge?”

“This is a very lopsided conversation Micha. We are fast approaching a shift from an interview to an interrogation. Am I in trouble?”

“No.”

“Are you angry that I killed that demon?”

“No.”

“Am I free to leave when I want to?”

“Yes.”

“Are you ready to let me go?”

“No.”

“Now I’m intrigued.” Riella traced a fingertip along the top of his jeans. “But I really should be going. Nate will be wondering?”

A low growl rumbled through his chest. “Nathaniel is not a safe bedmate.”

One eyebrow lifted at his statement. “Are you saying you know of a better bedmate for me?”

Micha’s grip tightened around her waist as he yanked her towards him. He leaned in so close their lips almost touched. “Anyone is a better bedmate than he is.”

It would be so easy right now to catch his bottom lip between her teeth and push things. “Pity. I thought you might have a more precise suggestion. Micha…”

“Yes Riella.”

“It’s time for me to go.” She needed to get out of this room and gather her wits about her again. Information had been gathered but not everything she needed to report back with.

“Will you return again?” His eyes conveyed his desire for that more than anything.

“If I am allowed. But I really must go now. I have any early morning. Tai Chi class.” While she did attend a class from time to time the morning one was rarely her choice. The seed had been planted to see if he would attempt to track her down.

“I would hate for you to be late.”

Riella turned her head and closed the distance between them and pressed her lips to his cheek. Her eyes widened at the jolt that ran through her body and the tingle that remained on her lips after she did. “Thank you for ensuring my well-being tonight Micha.” She recovered quickly.

Micha bowed his head towards her. “It was my pleasure Riella. May I know your last name?”

“Lovari. I’m in the book.” At this point she needed to leave. With her hands flat on his chest she pushed back with a gentle touch to put distance between them. The shocked expression on his face perplexed her even more. “Goodnight Micha.”

“Goodnight Riella.”
